Introduction

After living in New Mexico for most of my life, I have moved to the beautiful green state of Oregon. The first thing I noticed when we reached our destination and alighted from the Uhaul was the refreshing aroma of pine. Now that I have been here for over a month, it is not so striking, but occassionally I catch the scent if there is a breeze.

I imagined that it would be very wet, however here in Southern Oregon in the Siskiyou mountains, it is dry right now. We got rain for three days in June and it was quite chilly, but it has been very hot since then and fire restrictions are in effect now. It's definitly not the same as NM heat because despite the temperatures of high 90s to low 100s, I still haven't needed to break out the chapstick. The humidity level has been 30% or less. We are somehow managing to live without an air conditioner, but it does get uncomfortable. We make fairly regular trips to a nearby river to swim and cool off.

I'm not much of a writer but I do want to share the things I am learning about the area and post pictures. I am a sponge for new information and wanted a project to help ease the tedium of unemployment.
